Isolated, insulated, ignored –
islands we are not –
relationships define us –
we dance,
weave,
intertwine
stories grown
from love,
struggle,
encounters
Yearning for love’s
reciprocity innate –
to delight in discovery,
sludge through pain,
emerge stronger
markers of existence.

Woman who would picture
home an icy decay
is soon broken,
a fated fool,
she is always child.
Look how young laugh,
no secret to it,
live like the sky,
his day delicious.
Cite brilliant poetry
from gold air,
shred time,
post-needs cake,
naked thrush.

Live-streamed chaos
warps social norms – mindfulness,
art of Zen – balance.

Care will not change an ex –
tenderness rejected –
quit dwelling –
no more than a servant
in that abode –
innocence bore dependence,
and that perpetual need to fix
only perpetuated plummet –
hold cries,
confess
to being a survivor!
Blamed Father for this strife,
how he twisted and spun our life,
seldom paused to give a thought
for the many wars that he fought –
how conflict made us victims all
veterans who from favour did fall.

Fear builds wall
deflects possibility;
I pray for purpose
block revelation
afraid truth,
unkind, will
shatter equilibrium
Once faith-filled
meaning flowed
like blissful
divine guidance
but life changes,
challenges –
virus suppressing
vitality
I set my walls
ineffectively,
it seems
need to adjust
these filters.

Bring my bundled troubles
to the riverside, still and quiet,
she listens, no judgment
Stay calm, she whispers,
change is coming, it always is,
this time will pass.
Know she is right –
she’s never lied to me yet –
walk away lighter.
You see blood black
yet, I am alive
dressed in cool blue
like finest water roses
we fiddle noisy,
together a showy pit
pant of heat,
like juices –
what sin!

Defining self – pride
fighting for recognition –
so many profiles.

Transient, this life –
visit the nested,
encounter knots,
snakes threatening,
recognize the poisonous
intrusion, try to deflect,
avoid confrontation,
but even perfection
is vulnerable –
temptation test
sticky business –
that which I seek
to remedy, only
comes to roost on me.
