Feet firmly planted
earth centred
releasing a dam
of backlogged emotion
awaiting rhythm’s return
Does no good to cower
we either suffocate
in a melange of fear
and pain, or find a flow
that carries us triumphant.

Spirit disregards containment
should I appear disconnected –
focus lacking substance –
it is just essence flowing
I am whisper on wind’s lips
veil of clouds on tropical shores
sun’s aureole fleeting
I’ll return soon enough…

All is movement
all is change
Why then am I stuck
a rock holding its ground?
Each moment flows
into the next
then is gone
Calm unsettles me
I stand upon the bank
and search for rapids
Let go of worry
trust process
Life is a river
Take me to that river
bathe me in faith
for now, I fear the flow.
Fear builds wall
deflects possibility;
I pray for purpose
block revelation
afraid truth,
unkind, will
shatter equilibrium
Once faith-filled
meaning flowed
like blissful
divine guidance
but life changes,
challenges –
virus suppressing
vitality
I set my walls
ineffectively,
it seems
need to adjust
these filters.
(For Reena’s Exploration challenge: meaning and truth, and Ragtag Community’s: flow; and Fandango’s: firewall.)
Water flows, and my mind wanders,
relinquishing thoughts and worries.
Water flows, and I surrender
to the blessing of life’s journey.
Water flows, and I acknowledge
the fluidity of emotions, change.
Water flows, and I experience
the continuum of life’s cycles.
(It is Springtime here in SW Ontario, and this is the first morning since we returned that I could get out and photograph one of my favourite places. I wrote the poem some time ago, and revised here to fit the image. That’s my shadow on the water’s surface.)
