Spring’s Antics (tanka)

Oh that Spring gale,
she’s such a storyteller –
awakens the land
fiddles with expectations –
Welcome post-Winter trickster.

Paddle to the edge –
life has falling off points, and
I am curious –
Defy fear and leap, or freeze?
Faith armours brave, takes a chance.

At every turn
a challenge – prefer scenic
forays, encounter
rocky climes – ironic twists,
stretching this reluctant soul

At my core, fire –
ego driving passion’s flow –
yet, it’s calm I crave
tranquil waters, petal soft
calm – solace from the burning.

Lies from lips linger
when kisses shred sanity
and hot embraces
burn soul-deep, abandonment
reducing hearts to residue.

a lifetime of suppression,
roots tangled in black,
rebellion a given –
art bleeds essence at last

family tree faltering
Where do new sprouts bud
when major limbs have died?
Orphaned mood fearful of rot.

exudes an eerie glimmer
cloud forms orchestrate
haunting melody – music
eliciting soulful tears.
