The Wind and I

Followed the wind –
a child without boundaries –

Experience, especially hardship
clipped those wings

Lost faith in the wind,
pushed against her flow

Till nothing was left of me
fight diminished by final blow

The wind, though, she persisted
picked up my diminished spirit

tossed me in her whimsical way
rekindled the child.

Photographer’s Dream

Examining the intricacies
of a spider’s weaving

Marvelling as a mother raccoon
carries her babies one by one
while a bobcat prowls the tree line

Delighting in the birth of a calf
anticipating the arrival of more

Wonder and trepidation
coinciding – and I, behind
lens, am child again
wide-eyed basking
in the glorious outdoors.

A Recipe for Wonder

Trust, as if
trust is not an issue

Let curiosity lead –
hunger for learning

See the world as undefined –
focus soft.

All I Need

All I need is a pair of pink boots,
the audacity to wear my hair
as if no one is looking,
the nonchalance to wear skirts
even on the days I plan to climb,
to adopt a no-limits, thumbs-up
attitude and smile triumphant
as if my world is a bubble
of contentment, needs met,
and no worries about
tomorrow – then I’d be
on top of the world.
