Focus on Colour

Life’s mountain
a rough climb
body fails to adjust
focused as we are
on destination

Sights a sepia blur
here approaching summit
scree presents new danger

I vote we pause awhile
appreciate our labour
breathe in colour for once.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. I love your vivid artwork and words as well. (Funny, at first I wrote I love your artword.)
I once had a friend who wore exclusively one color for a year. Orange was year two. Decades later, she’s still known as Green Sarah in honor of the first year of color.
My grandmother used to say that nature has more shades of green than humans can absorb.

  2. Intriguing poem … applying to life cycle, scree as ailment after ailment to “get over, around” … applying to current collective awareness, scree as the abundance of misinformation to “stumble through toward truth” … applying to current pandemic, scree as “evolving protocols to “adapt and work around” …
WOW, VJ … your image is gorgeous to boot! (no pun intended)
