Teach Me

Teach me reverence;
I am losing ground

Children adulting,
mothering in a void

Teach me acceptance
disability’s waters flood

I am in the margins,
an afterthought…

I concede life changes
release control…

Passion begs an outlet;
I am worn…

And I am open…
Teach me.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

    1. That’s so nice. Thanks. Disability does set us in the margins. We are forgotten socially, politically, and culturally. Interesting viewpoint, for sure.

  1. I enjoyed your use of line. The transition from I am in the margins to I concede life stages has that double innuendo. In our twenties we never imagined these thoughts would become our contemplations.
