I dined on your expectations,
enticed by the spice of your words –
insatiable this hunger for approval.
Mistook self-assuredness
for wisdom – how bitter
the aftertaste, how empty
the truth –
Learning to feed myself –
sustenance geared to fulfilling
personal dreams.
My how so many of us are crossing such engaging thoughts and themes, loving it. Love this poem VJ, just speaks the truth so carefully, experience shines. and also adore that painting.

True wisdom V.J., when left with the aftertaste, learning how to nourish ourselves… perfect words, powerful poem.

Very well said. And how much easier it can be to feed ourselves physically – than it is to nourish ourselves emotionally.

That sounded familiar! How many times have we dined this way only to have that awful aftertaste 🙂 Great poem V.J.
