How bright is the soul
that dares to stand alone
who gives voice to injustice
who is willing to sacrifice
self for a higher purpose?
What song might we sing
if such a spirit moved us?

Does resolution follow inquisition?
History suggests otherwise…
Yet, here we are
seeking enlightenment,
counting on understanding
to amend the unresolved
Wrestling with denial
praying that research
will unravel falsities,
berate the inappropriate
Good and evil vying
for omnipotence
each of us personally engaged
Righteousness
such a vile possession.

Roses, hydrangeas
we are as flowers
in this garden called life
Who appointed gardeners
to pronounce weeds
to extinguish breath?
Murder is murder
we are all fallen
paradise suffering blight.

On Patriarchal watch
the feminine is on trial –
crimes noted, abetted,
intervention and consequence
murdered –
suspects ride a pendulum
where witnesses are criminal
and the vulnerable run
no peace to be had
while justice sleeps.
