Summer’s Brew (haiku)

(A haiku for Spring)

Subtlety unknown,
Spring’s repertoire bold and bright –
soul responds in kind.

Against Winter’s pull
pines stand strong; ice drums on roof –
rhythmic ovation

All the fading bits
detract – I am still alive,
passion asserting

(Living with chronic illness, the onset of Winter can be a very discouraging time. I write to remind myself that I am not that easy to deter. )

Flowers greet the rain
face-up appreciation –
nourishment’s glow.

Flowers awaken
imagination – magic
paints the garden bed.
