It’s not like I didn’t know
that life is tenuous
and death a given
I chose to ignore the signs –
seems that which we avoid
has a way of catching up
I pin-balled my way
searching for something
undefinable
A break from responsibility?
a Saviour?
Condemned myself as failure
Sentenced to a lifetime
of love lacking
How does one traverse such margins?
Re-engage in the face of rejection?
I have pen,
and thoughts,
and maybe
if I bleed enough,
the path will be revealed.

“I have pen,
and thoughts,
and maybe
if I bleed enough,
the path will be revealed.”
This stanza is now ingrained on my brain. I might not have the answers, but we can all hope to find that path.

Oh, I “feel” this piece deeply, VJ! Don’t have the answer though. And honestly, don’t know if I ever will. But I think the closest I can come to what “it” is, safety and freedom felt at the same time. ❤ May we experience it. These lines are my favorite:I pin-balled my waysearching for somethingundefinable

It’s often very revealing, those words and images that come out of our pens. (K)

once we found a way, for everything that’s lokced up inside too long, then, we will, find that, sense of release, that, brand new feel of, freedom. But it’s not easy to reach this “place”…

I love that line about pin-balling your way. Having played a lot of pinball in my youth, that line makes so much sense. It can be a little tiring, no?
