Startled awake
The answer
there, on the brink
Of course I lose it
rising to answer another call
Oh, how it taunts
Try to recapture the moment
find the right twist of body
as if I’m a radio tuner
signal lost
And what answer would that be, anyway?
Now fully awake, pondering questions –
only one applies
This newly formed fear
I’ve dared not voice it –
it cuts deep
Is there an answer
and if so, do I want to hear it?
I fall back to sleep
awake hours later
mind blissfully empty.

A good night’s sleep does wonders for the mind and soul. Happenings from yesterday seems lightweight in the morning somehow đŸ™‚

I can so relate to this situation, VJ. I’ll awaken and know there was a significant dream I’d been dreaming so I stay really still somehow hoping that my body position will pick up on what left me. It rarely works. Loved your poem.

Hahaha – so I’m not the only one. Darn the subconscious for giving us teasers then withdrawing

So many answers we’d rather avoid or wish we had! Your mind may have been empty but the feeling was still there, and a great poem resulted

My first grade students were totally baffled by a picture book which showed dials on the television. They had NO idea what they were for. After explaining, I cut to the bit where there was no remote–someone had to get up and change the channel. Yep, I think I lost the trust of a few students that day! đŸ˜‰
Wonderful, wonderful poem o so many levels.
Cheers,
Julie

I wasn’t expecting that turn at the end. Waking to an empty mind can be a good thing, after all!
