I’m particularly struck by the metaphor of the first stanza. It’s unexpected and visceral; it could almost stand on its own.

Well, this is one of my favorite words: “existential” in regards to philosophy. I’m happy to see you use it here. Though it’s such a “loaded” word and it brings up many “unexpected questions”. You really do a great job of writing all sorts of different things!
