Gods and Demons

My fairy-tale-heart
dreamt of an Adonis
but his countenance
outshone my dull

Found instead
a Demogorgon
divide my time
between up and down

Like Persephone
I negotiate demonic
Hades darkness
enough for me.

  1. Love the use of Greek myths. Really strong opening line. This is a poet’s poem, if that makes sense? It reminds me of reading something from the Renaissance, if it were updated to modern times.
