Avoidance, we
do it well – displace our
selves to warmer climes
choose a locale by the sea
anoint sunshine as our power,
and when the Ides of March arrive
our restlessness stirs once more
heat turns up and
we escape – renewed drive
leads to home’s door.

You did a great job with this poetic form, V.J. It’s a new one for me so thanks for the link.

You’re welcome. Are you going to try it? Took me a lot of focus just to get the mechanics right, lol.

I live in Florida year-round, and I’ve met some of those snowbirds. 🙂 Wonderful people! Wonderful poem! I like the laid-back tone, with the words coming and going as they please, just like the snowbirds.

Thanks Abigail. I’ve heard differing accounts of how people feel about us – nice to have the support.

Absolutely! Nice to have the visitors! You’re welcome anytime. If you’re ever in Navarre, do stop in at the Sand Dollar Cottage, where some 40 local artists have their work on display, including me. 🙂

I love Navarre! We stopped there 2 years ago – best part of Florida in my mind.

Sweet! I live about 30 minutes from Navarre, and just added my stuff to the gift shop in January. I met the owner at a craft show in Destin. I’ve done shows in Destin, Fort Walton Beach, and Pensacola, and next weekend I’ll be in my very own Milton. The next time you’re in the area, perhaps you could message me, and we could have coffee or lunch. It’s always nice to meet a fellow blogger and poet face to face.

Likewise, if you ever get up to Canada (Ontario), you are always welcome.

Thank you. My daughter went to Quebec this past summer. I have not had the pleasure of visiting Canada as yet, but maybe someday…
