Heavy Autumn sky cover
mirroring an internal gloom
I own this fight; this darkness
the trail is mine alone
Woodpecker’s drumming
fails to distract; I am submersed
Till sunlight pierces the veil
an unmistakeable allure
Gratitude, I am reminded,
always at the ready.

Gratitude is such a good way to start (and end) the day.

Lovely woodpecker image. Too bad he wasn’t cheery enough! It’s a positive thing to work through the gloom to gratitude.

Gorgeous poem and artwork, VJ. I had a woodpecker visitor yesterday…. how such a small creature can make so much noise, I do not know, but he was good company for a bit after I got in synch with his rhythm.
xo! 🥰

Sometimes, it’s not that easy to feel grateful, especially when life gets really hard for us, and we feel, trapped, and that we don’t deserve what we had been handed, but we just need to keep on moving until we get away from that state of mind, holding on the hope, that things will get better if we keep moving onward.
