Trees have a story,
buried in their roots,
refined by seasonal passages,
etched in scarred bark
Birds know these stories
Sing their praise, unapologetic –
and we can hear them too,
if we only learn to listen
I have a story
birthed from parental lips
delineated by the jostling
of our many limbed life
It states that I am the good one,
the responsible, the brilliant,
the child of hope and valour…
this story is not mine
I am a tree, whose scars
suggest a history, whose roots
remain hidden, and whose voice
was lost in familial tempests
The birds know it, though
and carry my essence
on winged notes, back
to source, where I am written.
(Art my own)
Animals can smartly perceive the age experienced goodness of humans . Why can’t humans do the same

I love trees and your poem did them justice. Whenever I stroll through a park or go for walks, I always wonder what trees think, or what they’ve seen as they grow immobile, their leaves dancing in the breeze. Thanks for sharing this wonderful poem.☺️

Trees….trees…. trees. So much symbolism. Thank you, VJ.
And this:
…whose roots
remain hidden, and whose voice
was lost in familial tempests
The birds know it, though
and carry my essence
Those lines really spoke to me. 💕

This one gives me shivers, VJ. It’s amazing how the stories of a family and who we are in it can vary so much, according to each member’s lens. This is a beautifully written poem, and I can so relate to it.

Drawn in by the artwork. Lovely. Your words beautifully capture the hidden narratives of trees, their stories etched in roots and scarred bark. The birds sing these tales unapologetically, reminding us to listen and learn. Trust the journey of self-discovery, finding solace and strength in your unique story. Our voices are worthy of celebration.

I love this….There is so much about trees that equate with our lives. We humans tend to be labeled from an early age….whereas the beautiful tree (unless hurt or chopped down by human intervention), as you say is ‘refined by seasonal passages’……..
I love the sketch…
