Things That Confine Me

Islands define us –
attempts to stave off
a ruthless invader

Heritage dictates
reclusive behaviour
shame driving pain

Finding comfort
in solitude, uncertain
if I’ll ever vacate again.

      1. Most welcome and thanks, VJ! I don’t where and when I heard the saying but it stuck with me. Btw, I am joining the ranks of taking a hiatus, not from writing poetry but from posting weekly prompts. I hope all is well with you and Ric. ❀️
