It’s a bird’s perspective I envy –
the ability to perch up high
balanced, no matter the weather
unaffected by the drama below –
I shall never know such calm,
being afraid of heights.
(For Bird Weekly Photo challenge: birds perched up. Not sure of featured image (a sparrow of somes sort), Bald Eagle, and Red-winged blackbird) A Bird’s Eye View first appeared here August 2019 and is available on diverse merch through Redbubble and Society6 – see shopping pages.)

The lichen in the featured photo is wonderful. The bird has a small crest. Could it be a lark?

I wondered if it is a sparrow lark, but I am no way an expert.

Wonderful poem! Very cool to have your own poetry on a cup, too!

Now that is some perspective. You have a poet’s eye view and more than that. Another treat to read! So much depth in so few words!

I love this poem! If only we could have a birds eye view without being up high.

I love the bird photos and the poem. How I would love to perch (or soar) high above the drama, unaffected by it all!

Wonderful photos and verse! I think your featured image is a song sparrow. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Song_Sparrow/

I thought so too but have trouble with those little ones. Thanks.

I always have trouble naming the smaller birds in my yard too! If only they would sit long enough for me to get a good visual on them! Your closeup made it easier to figure out.

Lol. Plus there are so many different ones. Warblers are really tough, but fun to figure out.

These are wonderful! I know what you mean about not knowing such calm because of a fear of heights– I’m with you on that one! 🙂 ❤

Lol. This is my Mom’s favourite poem of mine. She’s afraid of heights too. Have a good day.
