She looks over my shoulder
that sister, born dying –
whom I mocked, cajoled
and judged so harshly
She breathes down my neck
that sister, I despised
for her sin, and mistakes
how she always abandoned me
She taunts me constantly
ridicules my failing ways
her thoughts poisoned darts
attack me at my core
My eyes are opening,
compassion too late
“Karma bites”, her ghost
hisses as illness seeps in.
(For Reena’s Xploration Challenge: karma bites. Image my own)
Karma sure does bite, unfortunately, and speaks in hisses…..Quite a poem!

What an image… you made that?! Talent. The words, too – haunting. We all are born dying, are we not?

Wow….this is powerful, and it is exactly how Karma
comes back to haunt us, and there’s nothing we can do about it except to try not to make the same mistake again.

Really wonderful. To think of karma a bit like a twin/sibling/ghost of us that follows us around with our mistakes. Haunting in a good way. Great work!
