I am shadow
darkness clouding light
sun’s alter ego –
I speak of hidden
truths, altered lies
guard broken places
Crack my surface
I am ice, will thaw
reveal patches
I am shadow
fear me not –
a path to wholeness.

So good. Reminds me of a favorite poem of mine from Robert Pinsky called “Samurai Song”.

I had never read this poem before, so thanks for the intro. A high compliment indeed.

The words belong to the prophet Isaiah. They seemed to fit the piece.

At one time I thought I was the walrus but after years of therapy it seems I’m the egg man, goo goo g’joob.

Sounds like your therapy was more effective than mine – as least you have an identity.

Be careful what lurks in the shadows…sometimes just goodness waiting to shine. Great poem!
