Three Gifts

The decision has been made – it is time for us to move on to the next stage of life.

The house will be sold and we shall look for a smaller, rental apartment. It hasn’t been easy coming to this conclusion, and it won’t be easy making the transition, but excitement is part of the equation.

We will be moving back to the city, closer to family, and doctors, and all conveniences.

Now the purge and pack begins.

Acceptance, wisdom, and openness are at my side: three gifts to guide me.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. Transitions are difficult. I just read that “you have to embrace the old you and the new you to make transitions.” Hoping you have a happy landing. Your health and family are what matters most in life. Sometimes we only realize it when both are gone. I’m glad you’re seizing the moment.

      1. Mostly yes. A lot depends on neighbors, and how well the property is maintained. I suggest you research the property owner and property management, and read reviews if possible.
The advantages are issues are repaired or replaced by the maintenance team. And in our case, the premises is maintained by a landscaping service. I don’t living here, because we’re in the middle of a lovely wooded area. Out apartment is a decent size with a balcony, where we can enjoy the outside and enjoy birdwatching, etc. Most of all it is a gated community and safe.

      2. My husband used to be in the development business, so he knows about the reputations of the builders. I’m researching the reviews. I think the winner is located just outside the city in a forested area. Good views.

  2. We recently moved from the home we had lived in for 26 years. It ain’t easy and we’re still not fully settled. I wish you the best of luck and hope you find a place that you can be happy in. Take care, VJ.

  3. Wishing you all the best as you transition into this newest chapter VJ. At our age, being close to those important people, places and things that can make our life better is such a blessing. I hope you’re able to find a place quickly and that it’s one of those places you just fall in love with immediately!

  4. I wish you a smooth and successful move, VJ. and I hope it is more exciting than difficult. I try to look upon aging as an adventure. This is where our imaginations can help. Hugs, Sarah
