Is This War?

War is hell.  You can’t photograph a flying bullet, but you can capture genuine fear.”
– unknown

The bomb has dropped
control slips from our grasp

We pray for a parachute
for someone to pull the cord

numbers escalate,
lives plummet

We offer encouragement
isolated voices faltering

moment of impact imminent
the implosion inevitable

impact reverberates
responsibility moot.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. The world is a dangerous place now. I remember in the ’50s we practiced dropping and rolling under the tables in school. Now that would be useless. By the way, I did not vote for Trump and was surprised he won. Of course I was surprised he won before also. This is not the America I grew up in.

    1. I remember the under the desk drills too. Now we do shooter drills. What a world. I am in Canada, and cannot fathom how a man like that could be in a position of power.
