Searching for the alchemy
to transform this chaos –
Do they understand depravity,
those who dwell in exurbs,
blinded by their own opulence?
Children are dying, pawns
in a political sham – I know
we’re tired, but now is not
the time to sleep.
(Art my own)
Timely piece, and yes, we must not give up! Powerful, VJ!

Powerful poem! Usually I just read your poems, but today I listened to you reading this, and it added so much to the poem. You have a beautiful, expressive voice. From not on, I’ll listen too.

Thanks Deborah. Poems are meant to be spoken, right?

I am with you, VJ. I am tired too, (has it only been 2 months???) but you are right, this is not the time for sleep.

The situation, both political and moral value-wise is quite dismal in most countries.

Thank you for this, VJ! It’s so important!!! We can’t give in to outrage fatigue.

“outrage fatigue” is a good word, Liz. I am trying to address the issues I can and encourage others to take on what they know.

That’s a good approach.

I agree we must all remain vigilant. Act when we can. Right now I am just trying to maintain my own sanity.

I feel the same way, Eilene. I am choosing to support Ukraine’s efforts in my messaging elsewhere, and likely I will add my voice to the transphobia. We can’t possibly address it all.

“A blessed assurance” has never kept my tears from falling. God forbid it ever does.

No time for sleep. I agree, VJ. “The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep…”

I’m definitely tired of the political noise. I have to pace myself. You’re right now is not the time for shutting our eyes and hearts. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry to hear that. Praying you find a counter balance to give you hope in these anxious times. It’s just history repeating itself. 🙏🏾

This call to action, “now is not the time to sleep”, reminds me of the urgency to confront these issues, even when I feel weary.
Nicely written and straight to the point!
