Death in the Family (tanka)

A branch is falling,
family tree faltering
Where do new sprouts bud
when major limbs have died?
Orphaned mood fearful of rot.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

    1. Thanks Liz. I remember when my eldest sister died – she had been sick all of her life – the dynamic of the family changed and it took us a long time to reestablish a rhythm. I fear my mom’s death will do the same.
