In your absence
I paint the ceiling
midnight blue,
await the return
of stars, ride out
the gut wrench
of abandonment
I know your motive
is happiness, and
that I shall emerge
all the wiser,
but for now
I don the spatter
of indigo grief.
(Tuesdays, I borrow from Twitter @Vjknutson. Image my own)
Beautiful poem
Those first three lines are a perfect haiku on their own

I absolutely love this poem and the moment you describe, the colour you use to describe it, the conflict and the attempt at resolution. Beautiful ❤

And the gut wrench line really brought the depth of the breakup feeling

This is beautiful, I will be writing my breakup blues on my blog. I have been through a lot in life, trauma was always around me. This has inspired me to start writing poems on my blog, thanks for the inspiration.

I just love this! Says it all in such a succinct way. The image works so well I can imagine the words of the poem appearing below the bicycle tires….;-)

This has to be one of my favourites – It speaks to me in a big way and takes me back to another time in my life when I was married. You certainly do paint with your words…
