How to circumnavigate
unexpected glaciers?
I am unnerved
thoughts spiralling
chasing faults
Have I been remiss?
Replay the scene
rewrite the script
till comprehension dawns
What lies beneath
frozen surface
is self-inflicted sorrow:
covetous desire aching
(Image my own)
I can see your mind through words..

The self-flagellation never stops, isn’t it! As always, way too relatable.

No, it doesn’t. Thanks.

I loved that second stanza. It’s like setting a trap for ourselves that becomes hard to climb back out.

Thanks Liz. I am constantly re-reminded not to take another’s response personally.

You’re welcome, VJ. So am I. As the therapists say, “Who owns the problem? Do you want to take ownership of this person’s problem?” No, I don’t!
