How did this chasm,
this canyon of lies
become our normal?
Facts, once the sword
of intellect, redundant –
we fight with hyperbole
Voices raised, egos puffed –
I long for calm, doubt
we have the wherewithal
to bridge the divide.

Sometimes everything we need is right next door (maybe even right beside us in bed) but still manages to be unreachable. Awesome write, VJ

The eternal question of the day(s). If we’re not careful, reality starts to slip away as those voices get louder and louder. A “canyon of lies” – well put! Your image is an excellent choice.

Recognition of our somewhat-self-inflicted wounds is the first step toward collective healing. Patience is essential as each of us is ahead of some, behind others in coming to recognition: collectively, we are our enemy and our only hope for survival. [I wonder how much of this will show up 50 years from now in high school history classes?!]

I wonder about that too, Jazz. If someone could bottle patience, they’d be heroes.

I’m afraid I agree with you. All the bombastic posturing is getting harder and harder to take.

How about that? Yelling at the television doesn’t work for me either!
