Brown Creeper

Full sun,
river dons an icy blue,
white banks blind,
light hits water –
bedazzled burst –
I seek an angle.

Banditry of chickadees
noisily arrives
dance their joyous jig –
too slow my lens

Movement on a bare bark
draws my focus,
a brown creeper –
I am lucky this time
delightful noonday capture.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. I’m in Southern California and we had one of these birds, a true visitor, last month. the photo I took was on the bark of our oak tree, very similar to your photo! I was sure he was just passing through and I’d never seen one before. Maybe this was my little guy?
