Be As the Bloom

Are we awake
barely breathing?

Mounting raucous
shattering sensibility

Hatred building
rights withering

Who will survive?

I, chirps
the solo bloom

Timid-voiced
overlooked

radiant in her fragility
confident

Breathe

(Art my own)

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. What a breathtaking and deeply comforting piece, VJ! In a world that often feels overwhelmed by noise and strife, the imagery of a quiet solo bloom whispering ‘Breathe’ is such a powerful reminder of inner strength. I completely agreed with Liz Gauffreau that this poem is wonderfully life-affirming, and like Aptivi noted, your hand-drawn flower illustration is absolutely stunning! Thank you for sharing such a gentle gift of hope today.
