Words, like crickets, leap inside my head –
chirping pests whose trajectory eludes
my dulled reflexes, scuttles about
the periphery of awareness.
Harmless in the singular,
a cacophony of multitudes
threaten any semblance
of sanity.
I strive to intuit their rhythm
define the notes in workable phrases
capture the message before
it all disappears again.

Love this poem, VJ! We all have an equivalent to those crickets.

great title !! I love the energy, the word play in this one, the metaphors — and that it’s relatable makes it more meaningful —

My words, like crickets,
hide—impossible to find;
chirp from all corners.
I love your poem. Thank you for the inspiration.

Read tenuous but for some reason it won’t let me like or comment. Relatable. We condemn ourselves. Can we stop?

I accidentlally scheduled it too early. It will reappear next weekend

I hardly can hear crickets any more. Words took their place. Love ❤️

Your cricket mind sounds a lot like my monkey mind. I like the connection, it is an apt analogy.

Monkey chatter immediately came to my mind as well.
