Resilience

Is survival resilience?
Those who crawl
from the trenches,
elbow-deep in mire,
trust not the leniency
of asphalt nor concrete

Resilience dons bravado
picks itself up, dusts off
the ashes, and wheels on –
tires squealing in the face
of those mud-laden.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. I think, resilience is, a step, further than survival, because you have resilence, you fight, while survival is, merely, keeping our heads above water, not knowing if we’re going to, sink or not. Resilence has more of a resolve, the persistence of keep on fighting until we rise up.
