Worms have invaded
every sliver of my antagonist
by now, and still I tarry …
Minute details excuses
for hesitation,
the memoir languishes
unpublished
Wanting my audience
to savour each morsel,
declare it fit for consumption
The ironic death march
of a solemn vow
to make light of dark.
(Art my own)
I love this meta poem, VJ. It is easy to relate to the angst of attempting the gargantuan task of writing a memoir. And just how can one make light of the dark? That is an alchemy skill I have yet to acquire. But we must write, we just have to. Thank you for bringing this light into my evening – even if you brought worms with it. 🙂

Exactly. I want it to be a story that reveals the light. That is the catching point.

A memoir never really ends, but if you’ve had a full, interesting life,
share it. I know you can do this.

There are nuances and multi-layers to your hesitation that are intriguing. I’m sure those are as much a part of your journey as the words that you struggle to publish.

Your words always are morels to savor VJ and your memoir published will be a gift to all. Just enjoy the process and be authentic …in other words … don’t change a thing💞

Thanks Cindy. You must know the editing process kills it all, lol. Good words of advice

Hahahaha that’s true.. and don’t worry about offending anyone like I did.. hahaha. I didn’t invite my dad to my launch and I had 50 people and I told him. Killed my thunder once but not again.. lol .. and you know he got it.. xo 😎

You are not alone. I think that most people who have written memoirs would share your hesitation. But I agree with Victoria. We are ready to receive when you are ready to let us .

I agree with the comments of others — ready to receive when you’re ready to share, VJ. And the artwork you shared today? It’s giving me waves of Alphonse Mucha’s work. Beautiful! 💕

I think you have a receptive audience for your memoir, myself included. What’s most important is staying true to the emotional truth.

Interesting that you say that. My mother said the same thing. I afraid that emotions just clog the works and lose clarity.

I could see that happening in an early draft.
