Does Peace Have a Sound

Does peace have a sound,
and if it does, is it soft like a whisper,
or chime-like – a resonance
reverberating from tip to crown?

I have known exaltation,
felt my heart thrill at the dance
of dolphins just beyond my reach

I have known elation, awe,
honour and humility,
but would I recognize peace?

Joy is a child’s laughter
bliss, indescribable pleasure,
so why am I forgetting peace?

Does peace have a sound
and if it does, will I recognize it
attuned as I am to discord?

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. awesome poem VJ … sadly most of us are more attuned to discord … for me the sound of peace is silence in the midst of nature. Inner contentment is affinity with peace and acceptance 🙂

  2. I love the image, and the poem is beautiful. For sure peace has sound, many of them, depending on our needs. It can be the sound of the silence or the sound of a rock band.

  3. Oh my…”attuned as I am to discord”…this is a deep revelation, VJ, and I appreciate it because I suspect you aren’t alone. How can you detect peace when your filters and intakes are primed for the unease, the disruptiveness. You’re giving me plenty to mull over this morning. Thank you! ❣
