Lies

I dwell in mediocracy
where Larkspur takes a spotlight
and sunsets enforce sleep

A background figure, I hide
behind mundane assertions,
practice subtlety

Lies I tell myself, of course,
any reader knows – I decry
normality, as passion is my way.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. So many nuances to your poetry VJ. Each word captures an entire story. Love the risk you take in sharing. Young people do this daily. I takes much more for us to do the same. You have a courageous heart. I hope you know that. Because it’s what I see in you. And your writing. Courage β™₯️

    1. Thanks Andrea. People always tell me I am courageous. I have never seen that, but I appreciate the affirmation.
