Light fades
sun’s optimism
giving way to shadows
My eyes are drawn to hidden places
warily seeking the source of this disquiet
What beasts inhabit crevices, what creatures lurk
hiding in the trees that loom over me?
Could it be the incarnation
of trapped souls
taunting my passage?

I love the image! It has a feel to it like the mesh of our veins and arteries. The poem was definitely bringing up the fear those kinds of woods could bring up!

Perfect pairings: painting, poem, and Hallow’s Eve. (That forest really IS spooky!)

I often ponder such ‘unknowns’. You captured these thoughts beautifully. Love that image. Is that a photo through a filter or did you paint that?

Love the poetry, as usual, and the painting is AMAZING! Is it total imagination, or a place that you have put your own creativity to?

It’s a photograph from woods I found exploring our back roads. The poem came from wandering in woods on Vancouver Island. Thanks
