Self-deprecation
that louse that foils
recognition
What if I sacrificed
this invasive habit –
allowed vulnerability
Entertained possibility
of self-acceptance,
treasured what is?

Stunning piece! Self-acceptance sometimes evasive but worth it when it comes around.

I don’t often see the word “louse” used in poetry. It’s a particularly apt metaphor for the self-deprecation that sucks our life’s blood. Time to pluck it off!

What ifs…can open up a whole new world, if we are just brave enough to try!! I know I’ve got a few those kicking around.
