Writing Memoir

To chronicle a life
to extract truth
separate skin from soul
in search of essence

I try to listen
to the rhythms
diagram a blueprint

am discombobulated.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

      1. Thank you. I hope my journey will inspire other who like me who didn’t do well at school. Second-hand books are so freely available whether in charity shops, car boot sales, or in library and I had seen children in third world countries learning from books I decided to see if I could teach myself from books.

      1. I take that as a huge compliment, thank you… and the feeling is mutual for sure 💛
I was just reading a fictional book that reads like memoir and trying to figure out, how do fiction writers do it? Decide where their own experiences (which of course they must draw from) end. and the imaginary begins? How do they know when to reveal themselves or hide? And really it’s the same for nonfiction.

      2. You sound like me; I read always as a writer, questioning technique. I’ve been working on a memoir for some time and realized that I don’t have all the pieces, so some of it will be inferred.

      3. Yes, always read as a writer and it takes me ages to get through books because of this lol. I don’t think we ever have all the pieces and maybe it’s the gaps or space that make it interesting
