Mirrored, the silence
echoes through my soul – invites
a deep soothing calm.

(It’s open link night at the dVerse pub, hosted by Kim.  Thought I’d drop by with a bit of a calm.  Image from personal collection.)

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. I used to meditate, but gave up after never achieving the silence, the white calm. My cortex never sleeps; I either dream, daydream or inhabit the Now.

      1. We all need calm right now as our environment is so chaotic. Like everyone, especially creative types, achieving complete stillness is a lifelong challenge. I’ve had a lifetime of prayer/meditation and I still pull my hair out trying to rein in my monkey mind.

  2. Very soothing, V.J. Just yesterday I read this by Rumi, “We are the mirror, as well as the face in it. We are tasting the taste of eternity this minute.” I thought of this quote when reading your lovely haiku.
