The Quest

The heart resides in fragmented nests,
each beat a rhythm of its own desire;
we search for wholeness between breaths,
haunted by longing – a secret fire –
a quest for knowledge to lift us higher.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. I also really liked the line “we search for wholeness between breaths”–it captures how a second can seem timeless or how time can seem to stop. There’s a lovely flow to this and the rhymes seem very natural.

  2. Sometimes one doesn’t realize that life is a quest until the soul feels something missing…something that one is destined for, tugging at the heart. Lovely treatment of the photo, V.J.

  3. This really hits me where I live. Indeed we search for wholeness between breaths. That line alone is a poem onto itself. πŸ™‚
