Gratitude for dVerse

This current disconnect leaves me toe-tapping restless;
see, disease has commandeered my operating system,
and it’d be safe to say, if my body was an elevator
then it never really reaches any floor, and the state
of my alignment leaves me stumbling and ungrounded.
So staying put and writing is about the best I can do –
dVerse that makes me awfully appreciative of you!

(dVerse is celebrating 7 years with a call for a septet – a poem of 7 lines, or stanzas of 7 lines. Check them out!)

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. I agree here — the body as an elevator – an excellent image and comparison. I find myself, so often, as an armchair traveler with dVerse. For me, it’s a classroom, a travelogue, and exploration of feelings, a palette of words, and a place of friendship.
    So nice to have you here with us! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. We appreciate you too, V.J.! I agree with Frank about the phrase ‘if my body was an elevator / then it never really reaches any floor’ – an effective way to describe your situation,

  3. If it weren’t for dVerse I probably wouldn’t have written much poetry at all.

    Powerful description: ” if my body was an elevator
    then it never really reaches any floor, and the state
    of my alignment leaves me stumbling and ungrounded.”
