Wish I could converse –
one harmonic voice blended
in a symphony of birdsong –
but my tongue stumbles
reveals me as interloper
As much as I tread
softly over forest floor
my missteps crackle
alert the denizens
danger is about –
no imploring
can reverse the impression
Nature’s sensitivity is finely tuned
and I am urban-scented,
barely tolerated,
seldom trusted –
must bear my reverence
for this sacred space
more deliberately.

Beautifully expressed, my friend.
Sometimes the deepest reverence is shown not in words, but in the quiet effort to belong—missteps and all.
Nature hears intention even when language falters.

Great poem and artwork, VJ! We do feel like interlopers when we’re scare away the forest critters. But I think we belong there equally.

Loved this VJ. I’m an urban-scented interloper and I’m thankful that I have been tolerated all these years.

Yes. Me too. But some days, when a bird or animal skitters, I am reminded.

I truly hope to inspire you to take the step. It takes courage for sure but be confident the work is excellent. You’re in Australia right? Whereabouts?

Approach galleries in your area. It’s very difficult putting oneself out there, have been there. Just do it. Where in Canada are you?
