In silken Autumn skies
looming clouds allure
Amid the constant flux
I am craving solitude
Stay alert! Sky warns
Change is coming!
Autumn’s undeniable beauty
will succumb to Winter
Quiet days will return –
a reassurance I savour.

Beautiful poem! I have come back to listen to your reading a couple of times. I love the first stanza and I love the title. It does conjure up a mood, this focus on the ‘silken autumn sky’.

I could stay in Autumn forever, but I can see where Winter does allow for quiet and solitude.

What beautiful colors in that photo! I do think we need those days of hibernation even though the lack of sun is difficult for me. (K)

No quiet days for me yet, despite September’s end. The sun is making us feels like it is getting warmed up again.

Crazy weather. I wonder if you get many quiet days anyway as a dad?

Well, my son is in 6th grade now, busy in his studies. And I don’t mind kids around me. I like to watch them play and having fun. Plus, they expect treats from me, so they listen to me 🙂

You’ve really captured the idea that each season has it’s own strengths and moods. Which really resonates as to why we are each drawn to different seasons, I think.

I think so too. I used to despise Autumn for bringing Winter, but now I look forward to a slower pace.

There’s no way, we can, hold onto, these things that we love, as nothing is, permanent, but, things we have lost through time, can sometimes, have a way, of, finding their ways back to, us.

I too love Autumn and winter.. the shorter days, those longer nights, the sunrises and sunsets, the rising moon. The hype of summer gives way to a quiet magic!
