Introducing Author & Artist VJ Knutson – PRIORHOUSE INTERVIEW (5FEB2022)

Thanks again to Yvette for all the work she does.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. I really enjoyed learning more about you in this in-depth interview with Yvette! Your inner strength and perseverance despite your illness is inspiring.

I think I had a similar reaction when I first encountered your work, “I remember when I first encountered your writing, I paused. Read the selection again, enjoyed the original photo (or photos), then left a comment and went on my way. However, one day I realized how much I REALLY enjoyed your work – and I told you so. I felt your style.”

It’s fun to realize that I too have read Anne of Green Gables, Time Traveler’s Wife and watched My Octopus Teacher and experienced Taming of the Shrew theatrical play in person! Enjoy the rest of your week.~

  2. Oh my goodness! I so loved the interview, but especially your beautiful performance. What a gift you are to poetry, and to inspiring courage and determination! As I read and listened, I couldn’t help thinking of Emily Dickinson, and that common spirit you share. Bravo!

  3. VJ, your life is fascinating. Thank you for sharing it with us. I found that bird story very interesting, in that it shows we’re always taken care of. The Yellow Wallpaper poem is interesting, too, mainly because I used to teach it, and so your response makes so much sense to me.

    Anywho, thank you for this.

  4. This is a marvelous interview!!! And I loved getting to know more about you and your poetry. I was disturbed though to read about the ME. What a difficult and not-well-known disease.

    1. And had to chime in here because Cindy – I think you and VJ have something in common with the way you churn out poems with genuineness and creativity – different too but I sometimes sense a similar energy if that makes sense …
      Happy writing ladies!!
