Feeding Time

Creativity is a beast
hungers for expression

Ego set limitations
mocks imperfection

At best, I parody talent
nefarious my efforts

Still, I must
feed the beast.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. This is fantastic piece on writing. I really think that’s where good writing begins: “I parody talent”. We attempt to imitate or honor the greats, and from there we eventually take pieces of all sorts of art mediums that allow us to find our own voice. But I think you’re right too in the “beast to feed”. Writing is personal but it seems there is also something outside of us that must connect to it or transform it.

  2. If you let the beast get too hungry, it will start squawking for attention. Lovely digital art, V.J. 🙂 You have a very artistic eye. ❤
