Once I counted your love
on daisy petals –
loves me, loves me not
Followed you to Aberdeen
where the grey wafted
like haar off the sea
Everything cold –
cruelty of avarice
absence of compassion.

Loved your image, VJ. And the poem is something I definitely can relate to.

This is a finely crafted poem. Loved it, the second stanza illustrates the emotion well. Although, having been born in Aberdeen it holds a warm place in my heart.

You were born in Aberdeen! The interesting things we learn about one another. I enjoyed my visit there, and of course, all the local tourist spots, even though the relationship did not last.

I identify more as Canadian, but Aberdeen is always “back home”. Glad you liked it and the end of your relationship didn’t sour your visit. I was about to apply for University there in my early twenties, but then I met my husband and that was that!
