Consciousness commands
a shift of focus –
tired of the clash of colours
stimulation overload –
my muse is leaning towards
the nuance of black and white
A study of shadows
and shading
and how light
arouses the soul
Speak to me in subtleties
she whispers
in tones suggestive
of hidden depths;
I am listening
And so I submerge myself
clear the palette of vibrant hues
and take up the lowly pencil
seek the promise
in colourless world.

Beautiful! Yes sometimes we need to erase the color.

I know what you mean. There’s something about the simplicity and clarity of black and white images, whether drawings or photographs, that speaks to me too. I like the way you put that into your poem, and the “I am listening.”

There is something calming about pencil drawings…perhaps it is the shading. Lovely drawing and pensive poem.

Lovely image and poem. It’s good to look at opposites – I believe it helps us to see both more clearly. 🙂
