Why Poetry?

Sentences refuse to form –
Words, though, bear pairing
punch-packed phrases
delicate unnervings

Fear grasps the wrist
stunts sentences –
thoughts staccato
emotions gagging

Poetry loosens the grip
bundles the mayhem
spits it out – births
breakthrough

Why do you write poetry?

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. Spot on about writing poetry, VJ. I think I like poetry because I like playing with words and sounds more than plots and characterization. Also, I am getting a shorter and shorter attention span these days. 🙂
