Travelled East
in search of self
Half-family extended
unexpected warmth
Was my identity here
with stranger-brothers?
I contemplated pausing
surrendering to other
But that was sleep-walking
The distance still remains
Journey has no end
till soul has purpose
and wisdom relieves
the wounded child.

I love “wisdom relieves / the wounded child.”

Excellent! I really enjoyed hearing you read this as well. Journeys of discovery are often not what we think they will be.

We can’t find what we’re missing in life, outside of our, physical, selves, that is only found, as we all, ventured, deeper, within…

I didn’t grow up in a blended family but my children did. It has been interesting now that they are all adults, how their relationships have grown or not. Lovely poem on the topic.
