Respite

Munificence of woods
forestalls growing angst,
imminence of need

Sheltered beneath
a canopy of leaves
I am armoured

paused
peaceful
reflecting

Tomorrow can wait.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. Wonderful pairing of image and words, VJ! Thanks for the “schooling” on munificence. I have never heard that word nor known what it meant until now. 🙂 This piece reminds me of my own sentiments about being at peace in nature.

  2. Both the photograph and the poem are lovely. The woods have a way of making one calm- just standing there, still, watching, listening to our thoughts. Enjoyed reading it VJ.

  3. Brilliantly articulated. Reminds me of a line from the book – Walden

What is a course of history or philosophy, or poetry, no matter how well selected, or the best society, or the most admirable routine of life, compared with the discipline of looking always at what is to be seen?

Such abundant experiences in nature’s company!
