Freezing drizzle
and aching joints
elevate doubt
We are forging
into unknowns,
claiming change
His motivation
drive for both –
I quiet objections
Faith, I have in him
Trust, I have in process,
Hope as my beacon
Many a storm
has passed our way –
the choice is easy
Stay and rot
or risk and thrive –
hand in hand, we leap.
(Four years ago, Ric and I sold our house and all our possessions and headed south in a motor home. Both of us had experienced life-altering medical crises, and the alternative – staying put and waiting for the next health challenge – was not appealing, so we took the leap. After two years, we returned and settled in a small community not far from family. Health continues to be an issue, but armed with the memories of our travels, we face each day grateful for our choices.)
Image my own.
You really are very courageous and inspiring.
‘Stay and rot
or risk and thrive –
hand in hand, we leap’
Loved the poem.

I have always thought of leaving everything and being on road but the sense of security always pulls me back in. I don’t know if I will ever gather the courage to actually take the plunge like you. Such a lovely post. Wishing for good health for you guys.

Oh what a great story VJ! Although we don’t currently have any major health issues, we are trying to take opportunities to travel and create memories while we both can. You simply don’t know what the future holds. So glad you took the chance!! …very interesting photo too!

That what we’ve always told ourselves, Lisa: make memories for the rocking chairs days. Thanks.

And I’ve read (and believe it’s true), when we invest in good memories, they only get better and grow in value over time. Whereas when we invest in things, they lose their value over time.

Thanks Eugi. It did. First day out, I was so sick, I thought we’d made a terrible mistake, but we kept going.

Saving a copy of this one! Good mental therapy heading toward hip replacement … my hesitations are minor compared to desire to keep going places! (They tell me I cannot sit with legs crossed after surgery … ever again … boggles my mind but I keep uncrossing – practicing – assuring myself I am not too old to change!!)

Really – no crossing your legs? I hadn’t heard that. You are not ready to be a rock yet – lots of places to go! Including here!
